RECRUITMENT
According to the United States Fire Administration 76% of the fire departments within the United States of America are volunteer organizations. There are also approximately 795,600 volunteer firefighters within the states.
These numbers may seem impressive, but they are on the decline. Every year the fire service loses thousands of volunteer firefighters due to retirement, age, or lack of interest. If this trend continues the fire service will be forced to reevaluate fire protection in the near future.
Volunteer Fire Companies save the community thousands of tax payers dollars every year. Without the services of the volunteers Township taxes would have to be raised to provide for the increased costs associated with a paid fire company, or citizens would have to do without some of the services provided to them by their local government.
At this time the fire companies located in the Township of Hempfield are asking you to join their ranks, and volunteer your time to help your friends and neighbors incase an emergency arises.
Without your effort your volunteer fire company is going to be in danger of closing. This is why this recruitment effort is vital to the survival of our fire service.
